The Darkness Within: Why I Write Gothic and Psychological Fiction

They ask me every time, "Why do you write horror stories?" It's not for fear, nor is it because I love horror, it's because of reality. Darkness reveals what light hides. My novels aren't about things hiding under the bed; they're about things hiding within us all.
I’ve always believed that the most haunting tales are born from reality, addiction, loss, guilt, and redemption. The Gothic elements in my fiction aren’t just stylistic choices; they’re emotional landscapes. They allow me to explore the fragile line between sanity and chaos, between salvation and self-destruction.
Take Memory, Memory, Go Away, for example. Losing all those memories is both tempting and frightening at the same time. Why would we not want to forget our pain? But who are we without our memories? It's that paradox the cost of peace, that compels me to write. Writing these tales is to wrestle with what it means to be human and what we try to hide.

If you're drawn to the kind of books that leave you wondering long after the last page, remain with me. Come with me in Memory, Memory, Go Away, and discover what happens when tragedy, science, and the human spirit meet.
